<어린 왕자>를 읽는 시간 3 (2022년 4월 25일)

'사랑'은 무엇일까요?

늘 보고 싶은 것. 

함께 있고 싶은 것.

자꾸 뭔가를 주고 싶은 것.

그를 위해 내 시간을 낭비하는 것. 

 

<어린 왕자> 21장의 마지막 문단에서 여우는 이렇게 말합니다.

 

 And he went back to meet the fox.

 "Goodbye," he said.

 "Goodbye," said the fox. "And now here is my secret, a very simple secret:

It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible

to the eye."

 "What is essential is invisible to the eye," the little prince repeated, so that

he would be sure to remember.

 "It is the time you have wasted for your rose that makes your rose so

important."

 "It is the time I have wasted for my rose--" said the little prince, so that he

would be sure to remember.

 "Men have forgotten this truth," said the fox. "But you must not forget it.

You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed. You are responsible

for your rose . . ."

 "I am responsible for my rose," the little prince repeated, so that he would

be sure to remember.

 

그는 여우를 만나러 돌아갔습니다.

"안녕히 계세요," 그가 말했습니다.

"안녕," 여우도 말했습니다. "이제 내 비밀 하나를 얘기할게. 아주 간단한 거야.

가슴으로 볼 때만 제대로 볼 수 있다는 것. 정말 중요한 건 눈으로 볼 수 없다는 거야."

"정말 중요한 건 눈으로 볼 수 없다," 어린 왕자는 절대 잊지 않도록 그대로

반복했습니다.

"네 장미가 그토록 소중한 건 네가  그 장미를 위해 시간을 낭비했기 때문이야."

"내 장미를 위해 시간을 낭비했기 때문이다--" 어린 왕자는 절대 잊지 않도록 그대로

반복했습니다.

"사람들은 이 진실을 잊어버렸어," 여우가 말했습니다. "그렇지만 넌 결코 그것을 잊어선 안돼. 너는 네가 길들인 것에 대해 영원히 책임이 있어. 네 장미에 대해 책임이

있어 . . ." 

"나는 내 장미에 대해 책임이 있다." 어린 왕자는 절대 잊지 않도록 그대로 반복했습니다.
